Bridge Lane Project

A Peter Marino residence sits among quiet fields on what was once farmland in the Hamptons.

The architecture features a group of interlocking opaque forms. Various portions of the residence consist of slate boxes that are made transparent by the Vitrocsa Invisible Wall. This project features configurations of up to seven panels with massive glass spans stretching over 72 feet.

The installation includes sliding and fixed panels along with transom windows. These systems utilize Vitrocsa's signature slender sightlines to maintain a minimalist aesthetic. This project and the Meadow Lane residence exemplify how Goldbrecht systems complement bold architectural designs.

The Engineering

The precision of these windows results from a fundamental shift in design that began in 1992. Swiss engineer Éric Joray redefined the window by inverting the traditional structural hierarchy. In this system, the glass itself serves as the primary structural element. The frame is a slender mechanism for guiding and supporting the glass.

Visible profiles are minimized to dimensions between 18 and 20 mm. This structural logic allows for expansive surfaces with near-invisible framing. In addition to the aesthetic, the expansive glass panels are engineered for exceptional performance. This precision ensures durability and weather resistance against the demanding coastal conditions of the Hamptons.

Goldbrecht integrates these systems to expand the possibilities of modern fenestration. We continue to develop the industry through engineering and precision.
