OM Townhouse in New York City
Located just steps from Central Park, the OM Townhouse by Studio Arthur Casas is a major renovation of a dark, compartmentalized ground-floor apartment inside a five-story prewar building. Designed around an economic use of elements, the intervention eliminates restrictive dividers to flood the interiors with natural daylight and establish fluid visual unity across the entire three-level residence.

Architectural Illumination: The Pocketing Glass System
To successfully dissolve the boundaries of the prewar shell and draw light deep into the triple-level floor plan, the rear facade required a highly specialized structural envelope. Traditional, heavy window framing would conflict with the clean, minimalist lines of the interior and obstruct the vertical volume of the central living room. By introducing Vitrocsa's advanced minimalist glass systems, featuring our signature 3/4" (18mm) vertical profile, the towering six-meter-high living space achieves absolute visual clarity while remaining completely integrated within high-performance boundaries.

The design leverages a highly strategic layout to maximize the townhouse's interior footprint:
- The Double-Height Facade: The rear wall of the central living room features monumental floor-to-ceiling Vitrocsa sliding glass installations. These ultra-slim systems seamlessly link the main living quarters to the private exterior garden, turning a formerly enclosed ground-floor space into a bright, open-air pavilion.
- The Vanishing Pocket Threshold: To truly optimize spatial continuity, the large glass doors are engineered to slide directly into the adjacent walls. When fully retracted into these hidden pockets, the flush, recessed floor tracks allow the interior stone flooring to transition smoothly into the garden. This eliminates all physical thresholds, creating an unbroken plane of sight that enhances the apartment's overall sense of scale.
High-Performance Engineering for Historic Renovations
Integrating large-scale modern glazing into a prewar building requires exceptional technical execution and micro-engineering. Ground-floor urban residences demand high-performance criteria, particularly regarding thermal efficiency, robust security, and acoustic isolation from the surrounding city energy.

The Vitrocsa systems implemented throughout the OM Townhouse are precision-engineered by Goldbrecht to deliver superior acoustic buffering and thermal performance without compromising on a weightless aesthetic. Recessed directly into the building's structural plates, the tracks and pocket hardware are completely hidden from view. This ensures that the massive glass panels effectively disappear when opened, providing smooth, whisper-quiet operation day after day.
This project stands as a definitive example of Goldbrecht's ability to modernize historic urban spaces. By collaborating with elite international design firms like Studio Arthur Casas, we continue to push the boundaries of luxury fenestration, bringing light and spatial freedom to the heart of New York City.
